Pimelea Picnic Ground gets a new name

20/07/2011

A large sculpture of a lizard made from recycled tree stumps is the inspiration behind a new name for one of the region's most popular parks.

Lizard Log was selected as the winning entry in the 'Rename Your Park Competition' for Western Sydney Parklands. Over 90 entries were received and Mitchel Sullivan's suggestion of Lizard Log was chosen to represent this fantastic public precinct.

The lizard is a prominent feature of the new $1 million Children's Adventure Playground within the Picnic Grounds, sitting alongside several other sculptures, all made by an Australian artist who specialises in recycled timber work, in this case using recycled tree trunks from Western Sydney Parklands.
