Welcome

Set in the heart of Western Sydney, The Western Sydney Parklands contain world class sporting facilities, popular picnic areas, a full length cycle/walking track and native bushland. Covering 5,280 hectares, the Parklands stretch 27 kilometres from Quakers Hill to Leppington and are twenty five times the size of Centennial Park.

The Western Sydney Parklands are part of the NSW Government's new vision for contemporary, urban living in Western Sydney and are the perfect place to spend the day with family and friends - all without leaving your own backyard.

The NSW Government has established the Western Sydney Parklands Trust to be responsible for managing and developing the Parklands.

New Volunteer Bushcare Group at the Parklands

The Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority (SMCMA) has awarded $48,000 to Western Sydney Parklands Trust to protect and enhance bushland within the Parklands adjacent to Plough & Harrow Picnic Grounds, Elizabeth Drive, Abbotsbury.

With the assistance of this generous grant from SMCMA, the Trust has appointed Conservation Volunteers Australia to establish and manage a Bushcare Group in the Parklands who will meet regularly to undertake bush regenreation activities.

National Tree Day on Sunday 31 July 2011 was chosen as the kick-off day for volunteers to commence work at the Plough & Harrow site. Thirteen volunteers enrolled in the Parklands Bushcare Group and celebrated Australia's biggest community tree-planting and nature care event by planting nearly 500 native trees, shrubs and grasses. Eight of these volunteers were residents living locally to the Parklands.

It's easy to get involved. Go to Conservation Volunteers Australia website: Conservation Connect; http://cvops.cva.org.au/book/makebooking and register at "Bringing Back the Bush at Plough & Harrow". For enquiries, please call Conservation Volunteers Australia on (02) 9663 0020
