The free community event, now in its sixth year, will include 50 food stalls, the Parklands’ own fresh farm produce, live music from Victor Valdes and his Mexican mariachi band, West African-inspired Chosani Afrique and rockabilly act Rachael Brady and The Moonshine Special plus live cooking demonstrations, free gardening workshops with Little Veggie Patch Co's Mat Pember and Dillon Seitchik-Reardon and kids’ rides in the dedicated Kids Zone!

This year’s Home Grown theme pays tribute to the Local Heroes who grow and produce food locally in Western Sydney – some running successful family businesses for more than 20 years. This includes Local Heroes James Tran (Huong Xua in Cabramatta, Canley Vale and Liverpool) and Frank and Therese Abdo (Frank’s Lebanese Restaurant in Fairfield).

Huong Xua (meaning Aromas from the Past) is a popular northern Vietnamese restaurant that specialises in street-style snacks including pho, spring rolls and beef balls. The family business was started by James Tran’s father in 1998 in Cabramatta where it developed a cult following before expanding to Canley Heights and Liverpool.

Frank and Therese Abdo, founders of Frank’s Lebanese Restaurant, have been serving classic Middle Eastern dishes such as falafel, tabbouleh, fattoush and mixed plates for the past 25 years. Their popular family-run business has a reputation for being one of the most authentic in Sydney.

This year, the OzHarvest Food Truck will be serving up delicious zero-waste inspired dishes at Parklands Food Fest 2017, while raising awareness of the local and global issue of food waste. All funds raised through the Food Truck will allow OzHarvest to continue nourishing, educating and feeding Australians nationally. At the end of the festival, any left-over food will be donated to OzHarvest who will prevent good food from ending up as land-fill.

Leading Italian food company Barilla is proud to bring 140 years of experience to Parklands Food Fest with interactive, family-focussed cooking demonstrations. Talented Executive Chef Andrea Tranchero will pair fresh, local ingredients with Barilla’s pasta and sauces to demonstrate just how simple and easy it is to cook delicious Italian meals for the whole family. Demonstrations will run throughout the day and don’t forget to pick up a Barilla showbag for $10, so you can get started at home straightaway.

Other Parklands Food Fest treats on the day include El Qahirah’s koshary (Egyptian meat pie), Mirtha Gonzalez’s seafood paella, Pasalubongs’ Filipino soul food (chicken with rice and pickled papaya), Raza Central’s pupusas (Salvadoran corn tortillas stuffed with savoury mince), to name just a few.

The Home Grown Microbrewery Marquee will be making a welcome return, offering a variety of locally-brewed Western Sydney craft beers, presented by Sydney Beer Week.

The brand-new Sweet Spot will also be offering a selection of glorious desserts including artisan gelato, crème brulee, churros, macaroons, sweet crepes, waffles and much more.

To get to Parklands Food Fest this year, Fairfield City Council have provided two FREE shuttle bus services running from Fairfield train station throughout the day. For more information, including the free shuttle bus timetable, see our Frequently Asked Questions page.
