Sydney’s Biggest Backyard: 50 years in the making
From a twinkle in the eye of planners in 1968, Western Sydney Parklands has been developing behind the scenes for more than 50 years - to provide infrastructure and open space for current and future communities in Western Sydney. You can read the Parklands' story here.
The Parklands is the largest urban park in Australia. 5280 hectares, 27 kilometres from north to south, it crosses Liverpool, Blacktown and Fairfield LGAs and houses everything from playgrounds to sports facilities, bike tracks, nature trails and huge entertainment facilities. That's why we call it Sydney's Biggest Backyard.
