Parklands facilities

There are many picnic shelters available for use across the Parklands. Some are for hire while others are left available for people to use free of charge on a first-come first-served basis. For more information, see Hire a Venue.

There are 70-plus electric barbecues available free of charge at the Parklands picnic areas. These cannot be reserved, and picnickers are asked to consider others waiting their turn by cleaning the barbecues thoroughly and clearing the space in a timely manner. Nurragingy Reserve also has wood-fired barbecues available for use, with wood supplied by Blacktown City Council

BYO gas barbecues are welcome throughout the Parklands. Use of heat bead or charcoal barbecues are restricted to the 10 coal barbecue stations at Lizard Log picnic area and also at the barbecue stations at Bungarribee. Barbecues must be placed on the marked concrete platform and heat beads or coal waste disposed of in the designated hot coal bin next to the platform.

FIRE BANS: During official TOTAL FIRE BAN periods, only the Parklands electric barbecues may be used.

Western Sydney Parklands is home to some of Sydney’s best playgrounds - with more great developments on the way! Each playground is located close to accessible car parking, toilets, drinking fountains and picnic shelters. Lizard Log playground blends beautifully into the natural bushland setting, with its salvaged-timber features and wood-carved animals, while the double flying fox adds an adrenalin-rush to the mix. At Plough and Harrow East, the playground is great fun for the whole family, with a pentagonal swing set, giant hamster wheel, and more. Don’t miss these, or the multiple playgrounds at Nurragingy

Toilets are located at all major picnic sites and are cleaned daily.

Waste and Recycling  Please use the bins provided to ensure the wellbeing of the park and its native animals. Bins are located at all picnic areas. The Parklands aims to recover and recycle as much waste as possible.

Drinking Fountains can be found at all picnic areas, and are wheelchair accessible and user-friendly. Stop for a drink, to fill up your drink bottle or dog’s drinking bowl.
